This year I’ve been loving Alo for athleisure looks. Earlier in the year, I got a pair of leggings and a long-sleeve top, my first ever Alo purchases. The leggings are great for casual wear because they’re a sleek, shiny finish but the top is what I get the most wear out of. It almost never came off the first two months I had it and was especially great to throw over a sports bra on the way to the gym on a cool morning.
I’ve been receiving Alo emails since and had been eyeing the tennis skirts for a few weeks. When the aces tennis skirt came back in stock (it’s always sold out!) I decided to go for it. I was immediately impressed with the fit when I tried it on. It was a good length and didn’t gape in the waist, two factors I haven’t been able to find in most other skirts I’ve tried on so far. I also love that it’s smooth in the front but pleated around the sides giving it a unique texture and fit. My only complaint was that it was a matte black and didn’t go perfectly with any of the black sports bras I already owned. I popped into my local store to check out my options and find something that matched the skirt and walked out with more than I was expecting.
Most importantly, I found the perfect matching top. The airlift fitness bra and the aces skirt are the same shade of black and the bottom band of the top matches the waistband of the skirt for a cohesive look. I love the set together for walking around the city because the top is a higher neck and conservative length for a sports bra, but supportive enough to be worn for actual playing time as well. I sized up in the skirt and top for a more comfortable fit in both.
I also ended up trying on their classic cotton tank top and purchasing it in black. I wore it immediately with black leggings for a cooler summer day walking around Central Park and it was very comfortable. I would recommend going true to size on the tank, and if you want to wear a bra under it, get the black. It works well with a strapless bra or a sports bra!
While shopping have you ever found something cute and then noticed it was the only one in the store? Do you find that item has more of an allure because it’s almost sold out? I tend to feel like it does and felt compelled to try this white top on mostly because it was the only one left. I love that it’s a thick material so you can comfortably wear a strapless bra under it and it’s longer than a regular sports bra. Just like the other tank, it’s definitely more athleisure than athletic though. Both look great with jeans or leggings and could be worn for walking, lounging, or casual activities.
The last item I added to my purchase was a hair tie. I was shopping with my friend who loves a good scrunchie and was suckered into buying one. I opted for the buttercup yellow, which I have to admit looked great with my hair color, and is perfect for spring and summer.
