It’s been a long time since my last round-up which makes this one that much better. I’ve been using and loving these products for weeks, if not months, and can’t recommend them enough. This summer has been all about staying cool and comfortable and these will help you do just that.
one // These linen button-downs from J.Crew are perfect for hot summer days. I love wearing mine with the sleeves rolled up over a tank top with cut-off shorts. The loose fit allows a little bit of a breeze and the classic white hides sweat. I think the green is so fun and a little different for work from my usual white shirt and jeans uniform.
two // When I’m lounging at home I’m wearing these cotton shorts 90% of the time. All colors are currently sold out in a lot of sizes but if you can snag a pair they’re so worth it. I sized up for an even more comfortable fit.
three // Earlier this summer, I made a statement that I’d be boycotting denim shorts. They’re always too tight and too short and I always regret wearing them. However, I quickly realized that when it’s 90 degrees daily it’s no so easy to live without a pair of cut-offs. I ordered and tried on so many pairs before finally finding ones that were worth it. This pair of relaxed denim shorts are loose-fitting on the legs and comfortable enough to actually wear all day. I sized up once again for a more comfortable fit which makes them a little loose in the waist, but it’s easily fixable with a pin-on button.
four // This exfoliating solution has done wonders for my skin, especially the blackheads on my nose. There’s a jumbo size available through the Nordstrom Sale.
five // It has been way too hot for a full-coverage foundation this summer. Instead, I’ve been opting for this lightweight tinted moisturized from Ilia. I love that it’s a clean formula and blends super smoothly for a glowy sunkissed look. I’ve also been loving the Ilia mascara.
six // While I’m opting for light make-up, this moisturizer is actually a little thick for the summer but I love it nonetheless and will definitely be using it all winter long. Give it a little extra time to fully sink into your skin before applying additional products or heading out for the day. A little trick I learned that works amazingly well is to use your moisturizer on your lips while applying to avoid dry lips. I haven’t needed chapstick in months!
seven // For $25 these sunglasses are amazing. I wanted a cheap plastic pair that I wasn’t afraid to loose and these fit the bill.
nine // In high school, a majority of my shoes came from Target. At some point (likely around when I moved to the city and stopped having access to good suburban Targets) that shopping trend ended. I’ve been on the hunt for a good low heel I could comfortably wear for date nights in the city. I was ready to give up on my search when I decided to check Target. I quickly found and purchased this nude pair, and wore them out for a little over 4 hours the day they came in the mail. They were surprisingly comfortable and I had no blisters or pain the night of or next day. They even come in a few different colors!
eight // Another purchase that ended up being exactly what I needed is this Tory Burch camera bag. Two years ago, I got a nude vintage mini Chanel bag. I quickly fell in love and had been using it for everything from grocery shopping and errands to dinner dates. As you can guess, it was quickly starting to get worn out from constant wear. I’d been on the hunt for a simple crossbody bag I could use day-to-day to save the Chanel for special occasions. When I happened upon this online it was an easy purchase; it’s a great size, the right color, and was the right price for me. No wonder it’s already selling out!
ten // Apparently, this has been the summer of finding good basics. Comfortable cotton and denim shorts weren’t enough, I also needed a good pair of athletic shorts. I’m used to Lululemon shorts being too short and too tight. I finally tried sizing up (two sizes) in this pair of 5″ shorts and found them to be comfortable and versatile. They were a great investment.
eleven // Ending out the round-up is another Lululemon piece I’m loving. When I saw this yellow jacket in-store I couldn’t resist. I love that it’s wind-resistant, has pockets, and think the yellow color is so cute. I had a feeling it would be the perfect lightweight layer for my upcoming trip to Nantucket. In case you didn’t know, Lululemon makes great outerwear! Stay tuned for pictures of this in action in August.
