Now that cases of COVID in New York are low and careful social outings and travel are possible my urge to shop has been out of control. I’ve been purchasing and window shopping for an upcoming trip to the Catskills with Max, getting ready to get back to the gym, and going out to more brunches with friends. Here’s everything I’ve been eyeing.
Tech
Sigma 35 mm f/1.4 lens for Canon – When I wanted to upgrade my camera gear (i.e. stop using my mom’s Canon Rebel with kit lens) my first major purchases were a used Canon 5D Mark II body (because cameras are EXPENSIVE) and a 50 mm lens. Taking photos on my camera showed me that I love having a real camera and really prefer the photos to iPhone snaps. However, the 50 mm lens is too zoomed in to take pictures easily in my tiny apartment. Now that I have a better understanding of the manual functions, I think a 35 mm lens would be better for travel snaps in addition to being more versatile overall. This is at the top of my list right now, especially with our leaf-peeping trip coming up soon.
iPad Air – I convinced Max to splurge on an iPad at the end of the summer and so far he loves it. We both had minis that we liked but they’re small and very slow. Naturally, I now want one for myself for working on the blog, reading in bed, and digital journaling.
Clothing
Leather pants – TikTok is obsessed with the Melina pants from Aritzia and they made it onto my wishlist pretty quickly. However, I have more than enough pairs of pants so trying to limit myself to only tops as far as clothing purchases go right now.
APL TechLoom Phantoms – These are my all-time favorite sneakers and were one of my best purchases of 2018. My black ones are so worn out they’re no longer as comfortable as they used to be. I have a pink pair as well that are starting to get holes in the heels so I’ve started to eye another pair. Why mess with a good thing, right? I’d love for my next ones to be this gorgeous green.
Patagonia Nano Puff – I previously purchased this jacket in light blue and it was perfect for my post-grad trip to Iceland (see more here and here) because it’s warm but packable so I still had room to pack sweaters and other layers. I love that it isn’t bulky and would love to replace my very bulky black winter puffer with this one.
Free People Sports bras – I’ve been seriously slacking on the work-outs lately but nothing to get inspired like new work-out clothes! I do need more sports bras so I ended up ordering a few different styles to try out including the Scoop and Square Neck Good Karma bras, the Black Diamond crop, Be First crop, and Lightning Synergy crop. More to come on that front!
Fleece jacket – One more current Free People favorite to round-out the apparel list. I love jackets and this fleece is no exception! Remember the fall trip I mentioned? I could see this being the perfect layer for it. I love the colors Fawn, Moroccan Amber and Canvas. This J.Crew fleece is pretty cute as well.
Accessories
Dagne Dover weekender – If you read my Dagne Dover Landon carry-all review you already know how much I LOVE my duffel bag. The medium is perfect for the gym or overnights, but now that my boyfriend is on Long Island instead of in the city, I’ve been needing to pack for a few days at a time instead of single days or nights. I have some old Vera Bradley duffel bags that work perfectly well but I’d love to add this one to the collection one day!
Mini backpack – Also on my Dagne Dover list is the Dakota backpack in the small size. I had wanted the medium or large for work and the gym but lately I’ve been thinking the small one would be perfect for every day when I have too much stuff for a crossbody but don’t want to lug around a tote bag. Max has a mini backpack that we love using for hikes and outings so this would be a perfect upgrade.
Tech Organizer – And one more from Dagne Dover! Now that I am going to Long Island more often and don’t have enough phone chargers to keep one at work, one at my parents, one at my own apartment and one at my boyfriend’s, the tech organizer seems like the perfect solution for transporting my day-to-day work tech. It’d also be great for keeping cords and gear organized when traveling! P.S. this link will get you 10% off your first order!
