I can’t believe the first weekend of August is past us. This summer has flown by and although I don’t want to get back into school and responsibilities, I can’t wait to see my friends again. I also can’t wait for fall weather, but preferably when it’s acceptable to wear fall clothes. I went to the beach yesterday and it was FREEZING. I was wearing a sweatshirt and bundled up in my towel so I guess I can give up on the idea of a last-minute tan before I go back to school. I have about two weeks left in New York but I have a feeling they won’t be too exciting because I get my wisdom teeth out tomorrow. If you have any recommendations for food or shows to watch while I recover I’m all ears!
One // Speaking of TV shows, I was watching the Big Bang Theory the other night and when it ended, the first episode of The Guest Book came on. It’s a new show on TBS and I’m not sure how I feel about it. The first episode was funny enough but very strange, and the characters change every week. I’ll probably watch it again this weekend if I’m still coping with mouth pain but I doubt I’ll keep up with it back at school.
Two // The show I AM excited for is The Bachelorette season finale tonight! I’ve actually watched every episode of this season (usually I quit before hometowns) and I’m excited to see how it goes down, but less excited for the proposal based on what I’ve heard about who wins. Since almost everyone agrees it’s not Eric, I really hope he ends up the next Bachelor because he is hilarious and I would definitely watch an Eric season. I also can’t wait to see the drama unfold on BIP (in case you can’t tell I’m addicted, but BIP is by far my favorite of the three).
Three // If you watch my Instagram story, you’ll see that I shared the LF Sale is finally here! It comes twice a year and I probably buy half my wardrobe during the sale. LF is only in major cities as far as I know (there’s three in NYC for any other New Yorkers) but if you’re not near one, you can shop some of their t-shirts online at Emma and Sam or their denim online at Carmar Denim. I’ll probably end up going back to the sale a second time, but I’ve already gotten this bodysuit from Emma and Sam (it’s SO soft) and these black jeans from Carmar! I love their jeans because they fit me better than anywhere else. The pair of ripped skinny jeans I featured here are from Carmar as well and they’re my favorite pair of denim. I’m also obsessed with their black wax jeans – I have a pair from the fall/winter sale and didn’t get too many chances to wear them before the weather changed so I can’t wait to break them out again.
Four // Superga x It’s By Sam – The absolute last thing I needed was another pair of white sneakers, but I’ve been eyeing Supergas for a while now. I was hesitant to get them at first because I didn’t like that I needed to wear no show socks with them but an opportunity I couldn’t miss out on presented itself. I had been following It’s by Sam on Instagram and LOVED her designs. I saw she was doing an event at Bloomingdales on 59th Street which is basically next door to me and it was the perfect opportunity to check it out. I caved and got myself a pair of white canvas Supergas and asked her to paint the metallic stars on the side. I was afraid to wear them out before spraying them, but I took a chance and wore them out to dinner last night and I absolutely love them. They were such a great purchase and I can’t wait for my protectant spray to arrive so I can wear them non-stop for the last few weeks of summer. Sam was so sweet but she only does events because it’d be way too much for her to do custom orders. While it stinks that you can only get the shoes at an event, she does the customization for free so you’re only paying for the cost of the shoes which is incredible. Follow her on Instagram to find an event near you in the future, and snatch up a pair if you can!
Five // Beautiful, The Carole King Musical – When my grandma was in town, my mom and I decided to check out Tkts and see what shows had tickets on sale. (Tkts has a booth in Times Square where you can get half-price day-of tickets to Broadway shows.) We were really hoping for tickets to Kinky Boots but when my mom showed up at the booth Wednesday morning it wasn’t on the list. Instead, at the recommendation of our doorman, she decided on Beautiful. Going in I knew absolutely nothing about Carole King or the musical, but I loved the show. I thought the music was great, the dance numbers were fun, the costumes were incredible and the singing was terrific. I also had NO idea Carole King wrote the Locomotion OR Natural Woman so both were fun surprises. Also surprisingly, I think I liked it the most of the three of us, but everyone else I know who saw it before I did also loved it. I’m glad we didn’t pay full price, but it was definitely worth it for half price tickets!
