The boardwalk is a Jersey shore staple. And no, I don’t mean the Jersey shore like you saw on MTV years ago. The real Jersey shore is family-friendly, food-oriented, and the total opposite of everything Snooki and her crew showed on TV. The Ocean City boardwalk is home to Wonderland, a second (pirate themed) amusement park, more mini-golf courses than you can count, Kohr Bros ice cream as close together as Starbucks are in the city, and of course plenty of stores selling Ocean City Beach Patrol related apparel.
Because I can’t go a weekend without shopping, we stopped in Island Gypsy, a New Jersey beach favorite of mine. They carry a lot of Vintage Havana and other comfy and casual brands. I got this entire outfit from there minus the shoes. I loved this romper for the boardwalk because boy is it windy near the water. I knew a dress would fly up and I avoid shorts when I can. I paired it with a lace bandeau so I could show off the strappy back, a few necklaces, and my favorite Steve Madden wedges.
I can’t continue this post without including a huge thank you to the girls working at Island Gypsy. We definitely made their jobs harder, trying on a million and one pieces trying to pull together a complete outfit. They were so incredible and supportive of the blog! One girl even wrote my website on her arm so she wouldn’t forget it. It was by far one of the coolest things to ever happen to me.
We got to the boardwalk right around sunset. If you’ve never seen a Jersey sunset at the beach put it on your bucket list. It was perfect weather for walking around and grabbing some ice cream. Until we got attacked by seagulls.
I pulled a rookie move and held up my ice cream for a picture and a seagull swooped in out of nowhere and took the top off of it right after I snagged this picture. I deserved it and went on with my life but then a SECOND seagull (or more likely the same first seagull) swooped in AGAIN and scratched me, and stole the entirety of my ice cream cone.
It was the most shocking and disappointing moment of the weekend. I couldn’t tell if people were laughing at me or felt sorry for me I was so taken aback. But it was delicious while it lasted.
After the sun went down it got a little cool by the water, but luckily I had prepared for that and the girls at Island Gypsy helped me find the perfect sweater to go with the romper. I ended up deciding on this super comfy cropped sweatshirt. You can’t really tell it’s cropped from the pictures but any normal sweatshirt would have swallowed the outfit. With the hood on I feel like a walking teddy bear.
Aside from the little seagull incident it was a perfect night at the shore.
