I started this blog over spring break, and while I had plenty of time to work on content then, it’s definitely been much harder to balance school, work, and Fashion and Fernweh. I have a few posts about spring outfits coming soon though, so stay tuned – I’m really excited for them! Here’s what’s been on my mind this week:
one // Matt & Nat – Last year I had to take an environmental science class for my general education requirement and it forced me to take into consideration how much we waste. I love Matt & Nat because their products are vegan leather and the linings are all made from recycled plastic bottles. They’re all about social responsibility without compromising quality. The bag in the picture is old, but I love the backpacks they have right now! This one comes in a pretty light pink for spring and this one comes in two sizes and more color options.
two // Fernweh – I thought it was finally time for an explanation of the name. I’ve been taking German since 6th grade so it’s been pretty consistent in my life. Fernweh is a German word, similar to wanderlust. It means a longing for far-away places. Hopefully, I’ll be able to use this blog to document my travels to all sorts of cool and exciting places and share my experiences with you.
three // Peak Bloom – One of my favorite things about living in DC is the Cherry Blossoms. They’re all over the city and the touch of pink brightens up just about any spring day. According to Cherry Blossom Watch , they hit peak bloom this weekend so I’ll be trying to get down to the Tidal Basin to see them, even though it’s always a mob scene downtown to get pictures of them. If you can make it down to the District to see them the Smithsonian Metro Stop or 30-line WMATA buses will get you closest! I’m also loving these cherry blossom donuts from Astro Donuts right now!
four // National Stripes Day – J. Crew declared March 31st (Friday) National Stripes Day! I’m loving this striped off the shoulder dress right now. What will you be wearing to celebrate?
five // Disney – This past weekend I FINALLY saw Moana, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. Granted, I’m a Disney girl at heart and haven’t met a movie I didn’t like, but after listening to “How Far I’ll Go” on repeat for two weeks I knew I had to watch it. Now if I could just get around to seeing Beauty and the Beast before it leaves theaters – I’ve heard only good things!
