This week FINALLY felt like fall and it made me so happy. I was able to go home for the weekend and spend 48 hours in New York with my family. As always, it went by way too quickly but it was still a great break. We went to the Farmer’s Market at Union Square Saturday and I got my first cup of apple cider for the season. I’m heading out to a farm in Maryland this weekend and I can’t wait for more fall!
one // Halloween is my favorite holiday so each Monday I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite costume ideas. This week the theme is couples costumes! Two years ago my boyfriend and I did Bugs and Lola from Space Jam and it was great! It’s super fun and really easy – you can either create your own jersey or order one online. We got ours from AliExpress. You have to allow a couple of weeks for shipping but they were really cheap and definitely worth it! One that was on my radar for this year was the Stanley Cup and a hockey player! I thought it was really fun and you get to wear a sparkly silver dress (which should be easy enough to find since metallics are in this fall) so it’s a win-win! One more that I’m loving right now is Popeye and Olive Oyl! I feel like I never understand TV references but I used to love this cartoon as a kid and I think it’d be such a cute costume!
two // Every Last Lie – When I was home this weekend I finally had a chance to read a book! I put Every Last Lie on hold at the New York Public Library back in July and totally forgot about it until I got the email that it was finally available this weekend! It’s a suspenseful novel and the writing is really good, but it was a really sad premise – a woman just lost her husband in a car accident and has a four-year-old child and gave birth to a newborn 4 days prior. Overall, a good book, but not one I’d recommend if you’re looking for something to cheer you up.
three // Calendula and Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque – I bought a new face wash from Kiehl’s earlier this summer and got a few samples of this face mask. I used it mid-week and my face felt amazing afterward! I didn’t think my skin was dry before but it was definitely more moisturized, bright and healthy afterward. If your skin starts to dry out as the weather finally reaches fall temperatures I’d highly recommend it.
four // Sweet treats – Saturday my mom and I made two plum cakes to bring to a friend’s house. I had never actually had her plum cake before but it was incredible and I can’t wait to bake more fall treats. I’ve been wanting to try apple pie but I’m thinking an apple cake or crumble might be easier. If anyone has a recipe they like I’m taking suggestions!
five // Rebecca Minkoff Sale – If there’s one fall sale you check out this week, make it the Rebecca Minkoff one. There are so many good bags on sale for up to 60% off right now. I ordered the love crossbody bag in red because I couldn’t resist the 50% off deal and it should be getting here today! I’m so excited about it because I have a mini mac in light pink and it’s been my go-to bag for years. The chains make the bags a little heavy but they hold up so well and are so durable I don’t mind.
