The other week I went shopping with my roommate and she ended up leaving the mall frustrated that every single sweater had statement sleeves when all she wanted was a regular sweater. I totally get it. They’re a fun trend and great in pictures, but do you really want a dangly sleeve getting in the way when you’re trying to cook or do homework? Definitely not. I’ve been edging my way into the trend of the season, but I’ve been struggling to find pieces that worked for me and were practical, while still being fun.
When I found this shirt I did something I never do and bought it without trying it on. We had our sorority photoshoot on Saturday and this fit the color palette so I figured I’d buy it, try it on and if it worked, great, and if not I’d wear something else. I ended up loving it and obviously wearing it for the shoot. I figured while I was down by the monuments it would be a great opportunity to get some pictures for the blog as well!
If you’re trying to ease your way into statement sleeves, this top is a great starter piece. I love it because the sleeves aren’t too big and aren’t too long so they didn’t get in the way at all when I was helping take pictures of other people for the shoot. The top is from Vince Camuto and I got it at Nordstrom Rack for less than $30! I got the maroon specifically for our photoshoot but it also came in a teal and I think one or two other colors as well!
I couldn’t find my exact top online but I linked some affordable options below if you’re looking to experiment with the trend! They’re all under $100 and about half are under $30.
