“Tell us your name, your year, where you’re from, and a fun fact about yourself” – every college professor during syllabus week. I used to always hate fun facts so I was thrilled this year when I realized I finally had one to share. (This summer I met Bono at 230 Fifth in New York and saw Amy Schumer filming a movie!) While fun facts can’t tell you much about a person, I think favorites can, so this week I wanted to share a few favorites of mine.
Favorite bloggers:
Carly, The College Prepster – Carly is honestly the reason I started thinking about blogging. I’ve been following her blog for as long as I can remember and I love how consistent and true to her brand she’s stayed. She always shares new and different content and she makes it easy to feel like you know her personally. I got to meet her and Sarah Vickers of Classy Girls Wear Pearls at an event at Tuckernuck last fall (pictured above) and they were both so sweet.
Julia, Gal Meets Glam – Julia is goals in every way. Her closet is incredible, her husband is her personal photographer so she never has to worry about finding anyone to take her blog pictures, and their travels are picture-perfect. She’s also best friends with Carly and I love it when they post content together. I could never afford 3/4 of her wardrobe but a girl can dream. She also posts beautiful pictures of Charleston!
Isabella, Yep It’s Prep – Isabella’s style has totally transformed over the years but I can’t say I mind. She rocks seemingly simple outfits but always makes them look great. I love her fashion and editing style. She’s also a photographer and took the most amazing pictures on her trip to Africa!
In general, I love all three of these bloggers because they seem to stay true to themselves and I never feel like their sponsored content strays from their personal brand or their usual content.
Favorite stores/brands:
Bloomingdales – My love of Bloomingdales has only grown since I moved to New York City. I live insanely close to the 59th Street flagship store and spend way too much time in there. I love the feel of the store, the Magnolia’s Bakery inside, and their brand AQUA. AQUA is a lower price point than most of the designers they carry but very trendy and cute. I also find their pieces to be higher quality and more exciting than Nordstrom’s BP line which makes them my department store of choice.
Steve Madden – The number of pairs of Steve Madden shoes I have is somewhere between impressive and pathetic. I would feel bad about it, but they’re always cute, trendy and affordable so you really can’t go wrong! I’ve been living in my black slip-on sneakers lately (pictured below) because they’re so easy to throw on when I’m on the go.
Lululemon – I love athleisure and I think no one does it better than Lululemon. Yes, their prices are absolutely ridiculous but I always find really cute things on sale, and because it’s high quality it’s worth it to me. I also have very difficult to shop for body proportions and I find that Lulu’s sports bras, tops and leggings fit me better than anywhere else I’ve tried. Some of my all-time favorites are the Jet Pant jogger (SO COMFORTABLE) and the Define Jacket, which I would buy in every color if I could. For yoga, my go-to is the Power Y tank (featured below as well) which will never fly up into your face when you’re doing a downward dog.
Favorite TV Shows:
Scandal – I go to school in D.C. but I hate politics, except when they’re in an episode of Scandal. I’m obsessed with Olivia Pope, and even though she makes some questionable choices sometimes, she’s still one of my favorite ever TV characters. It’s the only show I’ll sit in my floor’s lounge for in order to watch it live. The last season hasn’t even aired yet and I’m already mad about it being the last one.
Bachelor in Paradise – BIP is the ultimate guilty pleasure. I used to watch Jersey Shore so it should surprise no one that I love Bachelor in Paradise. I don’t even like the Bachelor or Bachelorette that much, but I watch them so I can watch BIP and know who everyone is. I will immediately bond with anyone who loves it as much as I do and I’ve been trying to convince my dad to start watching it because we used to watch Jersey Shore together.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – This is without a doubt my favorite Netflix show. I didn’t get it when I first came out and I always assumed it was silly but as soon as I watched the first episode I was hooked. It’s absolutely hysterical and if you’re not watching it you’re missing out. If you’re still not convinced, just watch this.
