Another week has flown by! This summer is moving way too quickly and I need it to slow down. I’m not ready to think about going back to school or the fact that it’s my last year!!
This past week I’ve been spending a ton of time looking at other blogs. When I started this blog I had trouble finding other blogs to look to for inspiration because I was stuck on Instagram, which showed me all of the same types of blogs over and over again. Twitter has opened my eyes to so many other incredible blogs and I’ve been reading and getting inspired! This week I’m hoping to do a couple more outfit shoots but I also have a post about making the most of your summer internship coming up Wednesday and I’m SO excited for it – I hope you guys are too! Now, on to the musings…
one // Blog Lovin’ – I finally figured out what Blog Lovin’ is and it is GENIUS. It’s a platform that lets you follow all of your favorite blogs in one place so you don’t have to check a million URLs to see when your favorite blogs get updated. I’m still figuring out how to use it but you can find my blog here. If you like reading blogs and/or want to find more to read, I highly recommend it!
two // 9Round Kickboxing – Last week I was visiting a friend in Charlotte and we decided to try out a kickboxing class. Most gyms will give you a freebie first class to see how you like it, so we decided to sign up for one at 9Round. At first, I was disappointed because I was hoping for a class that was purely punching and kicking bags, but 9Round is actually circuit based – as the name suggests, they have 9 stations. You can show up whenever you want and the trainers will tell you where to jump in. Each station works a different body part and you do each exercise for 2 minutes. For the last minute of the round, the whole group does an exercise like burpees or sit-ups together. I thought it was great because you can go at your own pace but you’re still challenged to do as many reps as you can in the two minutes. About half of the exercises required only your body weight or free weights, but for the other half of the 9 you use the gloves and the trainers will help you along and correct your form. You go through all 9 rounds which is just under a half-hour and then your workout is done! I was dripping with sweat it was a great workout and I loved that it was guided but not scheduled and quick! Unfortunately for me, the closest gym is in Brooklyn so I’d spend more time getting there than actually working out but they’re located all over the country! You can see if there’s one near you here.
three // Despicable Me 3 – I went to see Despicable Me 3 Saturday night and I think there were more couples in their twenties than there were children. Granted it was a late movie but I was glad to see I’m not the only one my age who still loves those movies. I had high hopes for the third (really fourth though because of the prequel – Minions) movie in this series and it did not disappoint. I thought the character development of Gru, Lucy, and the girls was great and I loved the combination of Gru/Dru. They’re hilarious together and it explains a lot about his relationship with his mother, as seen in the first movie! It was goofy and adorable. I don’t know that it was better than the original or Minions, but it was definitely a step up from Despicable Me 2!
four // Coming soon – As I mentioned earlier, Wednesday I’m going to be sharing ways to make the most of your summer internship. I’ve been thinking about an end-of-summer/back-to-school series to share over the next few weeks, including posts about packing for school, staying organized, possibly a planner comparison and maybe a few other posts as well. If any of those sound especially interesting to you or if there’s something else you’d want to see please let me know!! I love feedback – you can comment, e-mail me, or DM me on any of my social media sites! I’ve also been thinking about doing more Twitter polls to gauge interest so be sure to follow @fashionfernweh on Twitter as well!
five // Old Navy – I feel like Old Navy is one of those stores that’s very hit or miss. Some days I’ll walk in and find nothing to try on, but other days there are so many good options. I was walking past the store two weeks ago and thought I’d give myself one last chance at finding something red for July 4th. I knew I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on anything and was hoping I’d find something I would actually wear again. To my surprise, I found the perfect top! It’s the cover photo in this picture and it’s super comfy, and a great last-minute option for the Fourth. I paired it with white jeans but you could just as easily wear it with regular blue jeans as well, and since it’s just a cute red top you’re not restricted to only wearing it for July 4th like some other outfits I’ve seen/worn in the past! P.S. It also comes in a super cute navy and white stripe!
