I’m here to let you all in on a little secret. If you’re not already on Poshmark, download it now. If you’ve ever seen those ads on Facebook for lululemon and other top brands discounted, they’re probably from Poshmark. I’ve gotten Kate Spade bags new with tags, sold plenty of things I wasn’t wearing and bought a couple of other good pieces too. They say one girl’s trash is another girl’s treasure and boy is there a lot of treasure on this site.
Today I wanted to share this skirt I got on Poshmark. Lilly Pulitzer just released the lobstah roll pop-up print in the original colors and in a navy blue version, but I wasn’t crazy about any of the designs they sold it in. I loved this skirt from a while back with the white trim. I found it for a reasonable price on Poshmark and bought it immediately. I love the Lilly skorts because the lining makes them so much easier to wear anywhere and this one pairs easily with pink or white!
I will say if you choose to sell on Poshmark, they take a decent chunk of the earnings from anything you sell, which jacks up prices a little bit for both the buyer and seller. I don’t mind too much though because they have an option called “offer” so if you don’t like the listed price, you can offer the seller what you think the item is worth. The seller can then accept or counteroffer, but only has 24 hours so you’re not waiting around forever to find out if your offer went through. Once they make a counteroffer you can accept, decline or counter again, so you’re only locked into offers you make. It makes the entire process so much more exciting and in your control than other similar apps, like Mercari. It also makes shopping at full-price retailers so much harder…
What makes Poshmark really great though is the sellers. So many of my purchases have come wrapped in tissue or wrapping paper and/or with a thank you note – people really take pride in presentation! (Just like when Uber drivers go all out with water bottles and what not to get that 5-star rating.) It feels like you’re getting something brand new from the store, not just something someone threw in a box last minute.
Making an account is free and if you sign up through Facebook it’ll show you any of your Facebook friends who are on it. Disclaimer: it’s addictive. (AND if you’ve been thinking about a pair of Jack Rogers, a TON of people sell them in all different sizes for 1/2 the retail price and they’re almost always barely worn!) Consider yourself warned. Happy shopping!
