Pink, White and Blue

Ok, confession time; I hate red. I want to like it because it’s my mom’s favorite color and because I’ve been told it works well with the blonde hair, but I have so much trouble finding something I like in red. Since every year I end up struggling to find something to wear for the fourth of July, I thought I’d make this post pink, white and blue instead of the classic red, white and blue, featuring my favorite color combos – pink and navy, and navy and white.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the Tory Burch Gemini Link Tote since it first came out in orange and blue. I loved the style, but couldn’t commit to a color. I was walking through Bloomingdales when this one caught my eye. I hadn’t seen the pink before but when I noticed it was pink and blue I was sold. I did actually wait a couple of hours before buying it but it was mine by the end of the day. The pink is subtle enough to not overwhelm an outfit and I love the navy detailing. It’s also a massive bag –  I was so surprised at how much bigger it was than I thought it would be. It has one small pocket on the inside and the rest is open, making it perfect for travel or school. It can easily hold my laptop along with my camera along with whatever else I might need for the day.

I wanted to highlight the bag so I paired it with a plain navy tee (so comfy) and this white scalloped vineyard vines skirt I got last summer. I also dressed it up a little bit with flats. When I was younger I could never understand why people wore ballet flats – every time I tried on a pair I had blisters almost immediately. I thought they were miserable shoes. Unfortunately, when you get an internship and join the “real world” you have to suck it up and find comfortable shoes you can live with. After what felt like weeks of researching, crowdsourcing and reading reviews, I decided on the Sam Edelman Felicia ballet flats. The first day I wore them to work I was so comfortable – no blisters, no problems, for the entire 8-hour day. They also have great cushioned support on the bottom. A few days later I wore different shoes to walk around the city and came home with my feet covered in blisters. When I went out again later that day these were the first shoes I reached for. I will definitely be wearing them all summer long, and probably buying a darker pair for the fall!

Outfit: top: similar; skirt: Vineyard Vines (last year); bag: Tory Burch; shoes: Sam Edelman; necklace: J. Crew (old); watch: Apple
