I’ve never been an ‘I hate my birthday’ girl but I’m also not the type of girl to demand a birthday week or month. Luckily, two of my best girlfriends have birthdays within a month of mine, so we chose to celebrate a birthday weekend together in Miami Beach to celebrate turning 26.
We as a group have almost no pictures, let alone good pictures, together so I lugged my camera gear down to Florida determined to change that. It was also an excuse to finally take some new outfit photos. On Monday morning the weather was great so we got dressed and immediately headed down to the beach. It was the first time in a long time I’ve scouted a location, planned an outfit down to the accessories and did my hair and makeup solely for the purpose of taking pictures and it was a great reminder of why I started the blog – it was so fun!
Despite our initial excitement about taking pictures on the beach, it was almost impossible to see the camera screen under the harsh sun on the beach so we had no idea if any of the photos would turn out. Luckily, between Cassie shooting non-stop and my Lightroom subscription, I was able to get a number of good ones.
I follow a number of “grandmillenial style” influencers on Instagram and naturally, was influenced to buy the infamous nap dress after seeing it all over my Instagram feed. I originally purchased the trellis print but I didn’t love the material or the color in person. I’m glad I ended up returning it, opting for the navy instead and my only regret is that they’re coming out with a version with pockets now! It’s a perfect length even for us shorter gals and looks great with espadrilles, sandals or sneakers.
I don’t think I’m quite as obsessed as most of #NapDressNation but I do love how easy it is to throw on and wear for any occasion.
