Monday Musings posts are some of my favorite. I love being able to share things I’m loving and this week is no different, so let’s jump right in.
one // Ralph’s Coffee Truck
I’ve never been to the original Ralph’s but this truck is SO cute. It’s parked in Rockefeller Center with a little seating area outside, perfect for an iced drink on the go. It’s a little on the pricey side (naturally) but it’s decent sized drinks (as pictured above) and they offer oat milk (my new-found favorite non-dairy alternative). I’ve been twice since I discovered it last week.
two // Greek Food in Miami
I haven’t written a blog post in a while so I haven’t been able to share this amazing restaurant. We went to visit family in South Florida for Passover a few weeks ago and my dad and I stayed in Miami and worked out of our offices there. I hadn’t spent any time in Miami and my dad and I love trying new restaurants together so we took advantage of our time there. One night we decided on Mandolin, a Greek restaurant with outdoor seating. Not only is the place perfect for an evening outside, but the food was seriously amazing. We shared a Greek salad, a classic but so fresh and so good, then got the beef souvlaki, which was great but the French fries and Greek yogurt that came with it were even better. We were having a good meal so when the waitress came over and asked if we wanted dessert we figured “why not?” You absolutely cannot leave without trying the baklava. I have had homemade baklava made by someone born in Greece and still wasn’t crazy about it as a food until I had it here. It’ll change everything you thought you knew about the dessert. If you’re still not sold, as soon as my dad posted it on Instagram three of his friends immediately commented sharing their love for Mandolin. It’s a must-go the next time you’re in Miami!
three // Guava Ice Cream
While we were in Miami I quickly realized how popular guava is there. My cousin recommended Azucar in Little Havana for ice cream and told me to get their classic guava ice cream. It’s called Abuela Maria and is a mixture of cream cheese, guava and Maria cookies. It sounds weird, but it was so good I know I’ll be craving it all summer long.
four // Reusable containers
I came across this article while scrolling LinkedIn and I found it too interesting not to share. I’ve started to become a lot more conscious of the choices I make and trying to find little ways I can be more eco-friendly. I love that this Loop idea is SO easy to use and can’t wait to see it come to New York.
five // POTD
If you follow along on Instagram you might’ve seen I started a “Podcast of the Day” series to share some of my favorite episodes. I’ve realized when it comes to podcasts and books I love ones that are educational or historical, rather than light-hearted or fun, and I love telling my friends about everything I listen to. I’ve gotten my friends hooked on a few different shows because they make great conversation topics. I binged the entire second season of Slow Burn a couple of weeks ago and learned all about Monica Lewinsky. More recently I listened to “How the Measles Outbreak Started” from The New York Times podcast, The Daily, “When Strength Becomes Weakness” from WorkLife with Adam Grant, the Dryer, Away, Dyson and Bumble episodes of How I Built This and “Were Nazis Drug-Fueled Crankheads?” from Stuff You Should Know. Of all of the episodes I’ve plowed through I have to say the episode of How I Built This with Jen Rubio of Away was one of the most interesting. I’ve been looking at her luggage since and it’s only a matter of weeks before I pull the trigger.
