It’s hard to believe July has come and gone. Since today is the last Monday of the month, I wanted to start out by recapping some of my favorite posts. If you haven’t already seen my post about Smorgasburg, read the post then add it to your NYC bucket list immediately. Speaking of New York, I also shared a post on a very cool speakeasy here. I branched out more with my fashion posts this month, and I especially loved pairing graphic tees and skirts (check that post for the cover photo outfit details), and my maxi romper. Looking forward to August brings us to number one on the Monday Musings list today.
one // Looking forward – I know August seems early to start thinking about fall fashion (even though it’s all over blogs and stores) so I’m working on a post or two sharing ways to start incorporating fall fashion trends without sweating through sweaters and jackets! As school creeps closer, I also have a few more college and career posts to share. This week my grandma is visiting me, so her, my mom and I are going to see the Chihuly exhibit at the New York Botanical Gardens and it looks incredible – I can’t wait to see it for myself and then share it with you!
Two // Aerie sweatshirts – Aerie is killing the sweatshirt game right now. I was in the SoHo store the other day and had to try on the bell sleeve sweatshirt – it was so cute and so comfy it took all I had in me not to walk out of the store with it. I went back to look at it again online later on and found even more cute sweatshirts. I get cold really easily so I love having a million sweatshirts to throw on during the day. I linked a few of my favorites below!
Three // Kiehl’s face wash – My face is especially difficult because my breakouts aren’t bad enough to require a dermatologist or any extreme measure, but they still happen and make me crazy. I decided it was time for a new skincare routine and I switched from my old face wash to Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Acne Cleanser. It doesn’t smell great, but you need so little of it that the bottle lasts forever and I think it’s really clearing up my face. I’ve been using it for a full two weeks now and while I still have a few minor red spots, all of my major pimples disappeared and I don’t feel the need to wear makeup every day anymore. I’m really happy with my moisturizer so I only bought the cleanser but if you’re looking for a full routine, they have this starter kit, or you can get just the cleanser here.
Four // Podcasts – I know I’m late to this but I’m OBSESSED with podcasts. The ones I’ve been listening to are comparable to audiobooks because I’ve been gravitating towards ones that tell a story. I started with Serial and finished season 1 in less than 24 hours. After that, I moved to S-Town which was also good but didn’t beat Serial for me. I also listened to one episode of Lady Gang but liked the stories better than the talk-show format. Does anyone have recommendations for similar story-format podcasts? I’m already subscribed to This American Life and Stuff You Should Know but haven’t gotten a chance to listen to either yet.
Five // Kate Spade – Kate Spade just released a new collection and it was inspired by a very cute french bulldog. I actually can’t even find the collection online yet to share it with you, but I saw it in stores, and the dog face card case was almost too cute to pass up! I’m also highly debating a phone case I saw that has the frenchie and says “bonjour” on it! Stop by your local store to check it out before it goes live online!
