Today Fashion and Fernweh turns one!! Since I probably don’t thank them enough, I need to give a huge shoutout to my friends and family who have supported me, taken countless pictures for me, and let me drag them all over NYC and DC for the perfect ‘gram. I also want to thank everyone who reads my blog whether it’s weekly, monthly or even if this is your first post! I created the blog as a creative outlet for myself but I love that people want to read it. I want the blog to continue to grow and be something people want to read, so I created a feedback form to get an idea of what kinds of content you like to see! Thank you in advance for filling it out!
In honor of one year of blogging, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite posts from the past year. I expected to have 3-5 favorites, but as I went through my archive I found closer to 10 posts I really loved. I managed to get it down to 6 and organized them by category.
Career // I work at my campus Career Center so I love being able to share resume tips, wear to work looks and professional advice. My favorite advice post was ‘Common Resume Mistakes You’re Probably Making and How to Fix Them’ and my favorite work wear post was ‘Building a Work Wardrobe’.
Style // I couldn’t narrow it down to less than three style posts but I have reasons for each of them! ‘Trending: Maxi Romper’ is to this date the only photoshoot I’ve done for the blog where I didn’t self-edit the pictures and I think it shows. My friend Aidan shot and edited the pictures and they’re some of the best ones on the blog. It was such a fun shoot and if I wasn’t a broke college student I would love to work with more photographers in the future.
On the other end of the spectrum is ‘What I Wear in a Week’. This post is the total opposite; casual outfits and mirror selfies. I try not to post the mirror pictures on the blog or on my Instagram because they’re not as high quality, but I wanted to share more looks that I actually wear on a regular basis. Unfortunately, in a college apartment, I don’t have the big mirror or lighting ideal for mirror selfies but this post is an accurate representation of my regular winter style.
The last style post I wanted to highlight is ‘The Perfect Pair: Graphic Tees and Skirts’. I was honestly amazed at how these pictures turned out. They were taken by my mom when we were still getting used to taking pictures for the blog and the oculus is never empty so crowds were definitely a challenge. I especially LOVED the gold sequin elephant top with the pink Lilly skirt. Without the blog, I probably would’ve never thought to pair them, but I loved how it looked.
NYC // I had to include at least one New York City post but it was pretty easy to pick a favorite. Central Park is one of my favorite areas of the city so I loved writing ‘A First-Timer’s Guide to Central Park’! I wrote it mid-fall and still love the pictures of the fall foliage!
