My favorite type of holiday looks are those that involve a little sparkle. It’s the time of year when it’s most appropriate and I like to take advantage of that. Today I’m sharing ways to incorporate glitter into any holiday look, whether your opinion is the more glitter the better, or prefer subtle glitter looks.
Jewelry & Accessories // Jewelry is the easiest way to add some sparkle without going overboard. These drop ball earrings are super popular right now and I love this rose gold color. They also seem perfect for New Year’s Eve! The ring and necklace are also super cute but still fairly simple!
Outfits // I love a good sequin dress, but they can be heavy, aren’t the most comfortable usually, and tend to be short which is less than ideal if you’ll be spending a lot of time outside. I created this guide as a starting point to help inspire you, but if you’re not feeling any of these specific looks, I recommend checking out Tobi, Lulu’s and Misguided! Free People also has some great options, along with SheIn.
Shoes // I think shoes are the most fun way to add glitter to an outfit. Glitter heels are so fun, and the glitter isn’t touching your body so it’s less likely to be scratchy or uncomfortable. I shared a few fun options for heels that won’t break the bank, but I also loved these velvet booties, with a glitter back.
While I love sparkly pieces, I realize not everyone does, so I enlisted Ava, who you might remember from my gift guide for the beauty lover, to share some ways to include a little glam into your makeup looks for the holidays:
Listen, sometimes sequins are itchy and glitter sheds off clothes. Maybe you’re just looking for a more subtle shine! If you prefer your sparkle on your face instead of your clothes, here are a few products to use when you need a little glimmer in your makeup!
The Urban Decay Heavy Metal Eyeliners are a simple, gorgeous way to add as much or as little glitter to your eye look as you want. Try it on top of colored liner, use it to define a cut crease, or wear it by itself for a wink to remember.
Lush (as you all remember, I am a Lush obsessed maniac. Did you really think I would get through another post without talking about it?) solves your dry skin problems AND glitter fix in one go with their massage bars. For a full body glow or just to highlight what you think deserves attention, try Shimmy Shimmy or Goth Fairy. Super moisturizing and the scent lasts forever, they’re perfect if you want to tantalize someone to get in close. For a more subtle, skin perfecting effect (and a damn good fake vacation glow in the winter) try Black Stockings!
Last but not least, for the bolder readers, the product of the 2017 holiday season is definitely the Ciaté Glitter Flip liquid lipstick. They go on metal, but let them dry and rub your lips together for the bold no-budge glitter lip of your dreams! Count me in for THAT New Year’s countdown kiss.
