When Tiffany announced they were opening up a cafe I, along with most millennial women, freaked out. Finally, you could have breakfast at Tiffany’s for real, if you could get in. Before I was able to get a reservation, my friend, Cassie did and I was so jealous. She went and said it was amazing so I had high hopes when my dad finally snagged a reservation. My friend Lily was in town the day I had a reservation for so she joined me. We got there a little early so we started on the second floor to look at engagement rings (neither of us has plans to get engaged anytime soon but we love looking! Lily’s favorite are the pink diamonds and I’m partial to yellow). Five minutes before our reservation time we headed upstairs to the cafe and were seated immediately.
The cafe is very quaint – a minimal number of tables so it’s a very intimate setting. Unfortunately, we were seated in the corner across from the kitchen and next to the open wall that connects the cafe to the rest of the floor, so people could look in the cafe and were basically right next to us when they did. Although the seating wasn’t ideal, we did have a great view of the corner of the plaza and a peek of Central Park.
The menu offers three different options – breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. We both opted for breakfast and I got the truffle eggs Cassie recommended, while Lily got the avocado toast. I was nervous about the pricing when I read it was $30 for a croissant but considering the city and the location, the price is really not that bad. It was $30 each for breakfast but we each got a full pot of tea, a croissant with butter, Nutella and jam, a small fruit bowl, and our choice of meal. The food was all good but the eggs really stood out as the best. I tried some of Lily’s toast and it was good but not anything especially special or different. The eggs, on the other hand, were definitely something I’d go back for, and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who usually avoids eggs unless I’m making them myself. The service was ok; not great but not terrible and the smell of old food tends to linger in the corner because they don’t have a full kitchen with dishwashing in the cafe, so the plates pile up before they’re moved.
If you’re planning a trip to New York I definitely recommend trying to snag a reservation. The tables for 4 are further away from the kitchen and you can order breakfast any time of day so don’t worry too much about the timing. I’m not rushing back for lunch or afternoon tea, but I would probably go back for breakfast on a special occasion. It’s a unique, fun New York experience and there are definitely worse ways to spend $30 in the city.

If only there were diamonds in the eggs!! But if there were it probably wouldn’t be quite so reasonably priced!
