Another week has flown by. Between naps (I’m still recovering from my wisdom teeth surgery) I managed to pack and Saturday we hit the road. I snapped this pic on our way out of the city before I realized what should be a 4-hour drive would end up taking 7 hours. Despite the traffic, we made it to D.C. and I’m moved in for my senior year! I’m happy to be back at school but very glad I don’t start classes for another week – I forgot how exhausting moving in can be! (Especially when you’re barely done unpacking before you start moving your roommate in – all the loading and unloading I did the past two days will definitely hurt my arms later today.) I’m starting to get settled and this week I start training for my on-campus job. Back to the Monday grind!
one // iPhone 7 Plus – Last year I finally gave up on small phones and switched from the iPhone 5S to the 7. I almost immediately adapted to the size and found myself questioning how I ever used a smaller screen. This week I upgraded from the 7 to the 7 Plus. I was again nervous about the size change but so far I love it! It does fit in my back pocket and I almost always have a bag on me anyway so it’s not a huge deal. I got it mostly for the camera though – I haven’t had too much opportunity to test out portrait mode yet but my roommate and I are going to a sunflower later this week (stay tuned for pictures on Instagram and the blog) and I can’t wait to see how it goes! If the camera is as good as everyone says it is, it’ll be so nice not lugging my heavy DSLR around with me everywhere!
two // Mascara Sampler – Recently I’ve been on the hunt for a new mascara. Someone recommended Blinc to me. It’s supposed to be a different kind of mascara – it forms little tubes on your eyelashes, that slide off with warm water. I tried it out and it looked great on, but I hated that I needed warm water to take it off – it was great that it didn’t come off from rubbing my eyes, but I’d rather have something I can take off with regular make-up remover when I’m taking the rest of my make-up off. I went back to Sephora and found the Sephora Favorites – Lashstash to go. They make two different sets that each come with 5 mini mascaras to test out and then you get a voucher for a free full-size tube of any of the mascaras in the set! The one I got came with Buxom, Urban Decay, Lancome, Tarte and Bobbi Brown mascaras and I can’t wait to try them all out over the next few weeks! It also comes with a description of each so you can see where each excels. The set is $28 and the voucher for the free full-size mascara never expires making it an amazing deal. You can find the sets here and here.
three // Lilly Tank – I haven’t let myself near a Lilly Pulitzer store the past few months. I know I’ll probably cave and get something during the after-party sale, but I’m trying to resist anything full-priced. Even though I haven’t been looking specifically for anything Lilly, one of their new prints caught my eye. It’s called Multi Casa Del Sol and I love the colors – they pop but it’s not a full rainbow pattern, it’s mostly blue with greens, pinks and purples. I especially love this tank in it!
four // Most useful purchase of the summer – I’ve been looking back on what I added to my closet this summer and this Tory Burch tote is definitely my best purchase of the summer. I used it basically every chance I got and I can’t wait to use it for classes in a few weeks! You can see it in action on this blog post I shared last week.
five // Bachelor in Paradise is BACK! – If you think watching the Bachelor franchise is a waste of time, it’s because you haven’t seen BIP. I think it’s quite possibly my favorite show on tv and it’s the only reason I actually watch the other two shows. Basically, they take the losers from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and throw them in Mexico together for two weeks, bringing new people in every few days to stir the pot. It’s hilarious and I was actually really impressed with how they handled the scandal on the show. They talked about the implications and everyone agreed that they still wanted to be there and continue filming and I’m so glad because watching it is my favorite Monday night activity. Tune into ABC tonight for a new episode!
