If you follow along on my Instagram, you’ll have noticed I was in Israel for the past week and a half. It was an organized trip so I had no say in what we did or where we went, but I still wanted to share some of the highlights of the trip for anyone else who might visit. Here are my top five recommendations if you’re ever in Israel!
one // The number one thing you must-do if you’re in Israel is visit the Dead Sea. It’s the lowest place on Earth and the only body of water in the world where you can float with zero effort. The water is so salty nothing can survive in it, but it’s still so clear. It’s an experience you won’t get anywhere else in the world. To make it a complete experience you have to try the dead sea mud, it’ll leave your skin feeling so incredibly smooth and soft afterward.
two // The Florentine district in Tel Aviv is a hub for graffiti and street art. It has some incredible art that changes daily, if you know where to look. Our tour was given by a street artist named Niro and you can follow along with his tours and see some of the ever-changing street art on his Instagram – @nirotrip.
three // Caesarea has some of the oldest ancient Roman ruins in Israel. You can still see the major aqueducts that brought water to the city, which used to be a major hub for Israel, and the remains of King Herod’s palace. There’s also an ancient amphitheater that still holds concerts. For Israeli artists once you’ve made it to Caesarea, you’ve made it.
four // Although I’ve been to Israel three times now, I had never been to Haifa before. The Bahá’í Gardens are a must see – we got there after they closed for the day but saw them from the top during the daylight and from the bottom at night and the view is incredible. Even from the outside you can tell how beautiful they are.
five // Last but not least is one of my favorite cities in Israel – Tzfat. Home to Jewish Mysticism (Kabbalah) and some incredibly beautiful Sephardic-style synagogues, Tzfat is a beautiful place to visit. It’s covered in shades of blue; on the walls, on the gates, everywhere you look. It also has the best jewelry selection in the country.
