Let me skip straight to the good stuff: I love this bag.
A major sale tempted me to order my first Dagne Dover bag in January 2019 and I haven’t used anything else as a gym/overnight/carry on bag since.
What I Use It For
I have the medium Dagne Dover Landon and it fits a pair of shoes, a change of clothes, and a makeup/cosmetic bag pretty seamlessly. Obviously heavy boots or thick sweaters limit space a little more, and when you’re packing summer clothes you can squeeze in an extra outfit or pair of shoes.
Dagne Dover has totally changed the game when it comes to organized bags. The Landon comes with a shoe bag to keep your dirty soles from touching clean clothes, interior pockets including a laptop sleeve and zippered section, and a mesh pouch that you can attach and detach from the inside of the bag for easy access to keys or other small items.
It’s the perfect size for the gym, especially since I always bring a round brush, heat protectant, and makeup when I go before work in the morning. When I’m traveling, I can easily fit a light throw blanket for the plane, my noise-canceling over-the-ear headphones, snacks, a water bottle, small toiletries, and more.
I’ve liked my bag since I purchased it, but it was true love when I realized I could wash it. I actually have two of the same style, one in the grey camo pictured here and a black one, but I prefer using the grey bag because it’s easier to see what’s inside and find what I’m looking for. However, the lighter color is also more susceptible to dirt: mine was looking yellow from the grime of NYC. I don’t even want to know what germs were on the bottom…
I read online that you could throw it in the wash so I zipped it up, took off the strap, put it in the original dust bag, and put it in a gentle cycle. I wish I had taken before pictures so you could see the transformation, but trust me when I say it came out looking brand new. Having used it for a year you can’t tell that it’s not right off the rack.
If you’re looking for a new gym bag or overnight bag the medium is perfect. If you’re looking for a weekender, being the overpacked I am I’d probably go with the XL but you could likely get away with the large.
Other Dagne Dover Favorites
While we’re on the subject, I also have and love the Hunter toiletry bag. I have the large and can easily fit all of my makeup inside. When I’m only bringing the basics, I can fit a decent amount of my skin/hair care as well. Again, their bags are amazing for organizing your stuff. The toiletry bag comes with a long mesh pouch that I use for brushes and a mesh pouch that velcro’s to the side of the interior for smaller items like lipsticks.
I’m not gonna sugar coat it, these bags seem expensive for what they are. However, I love everything I’ve purchased so I’m not surprised they’re popping up throughout NYC. I’m currently eyeing the Allyn tote and the Dakota backpack and trying to hold off, at least until my Lululemon backpack isn’t cutting it anymore, but if you’re sold, this link will get you $20 off your first purchase.
